  1. I have many friends that are either laid off, recent unemployed graduates or disgustingly underemployed. Categories one and two spend their days and nights networking, applying for jobs, following up with the faceless HR minions and losing sleep over the whole situation. What both categories have in common with the third is that they still assume that THEY are doing something wrong. They assume that they are missing some great hidden high paying job or not bugging their inside contact enough. The OWS people know that this is all a bag of sand. But why do some many think this way? Well, that's what the boomers tell us to believe - it's a meritocracy in the U.S.!

The smug boomer sits back and says "gosh darn it, I got a great job after college, what's wrong with you!" The angry boomer snorts, silly youngster, you should have majored in engineering. Meanwhile, the engineer sends out more resumes, makes more calls and says "...if only..." The piggy boomer says "bunch of whiners! Snort Snort" So my hats off to the OWS brothers and sisters that are taking a stand against those nasty vile boomers.

  2. @ Big Meech. Right on. It seems that for many of us, part of waking up to the facts involves some of the very job searching experiences you describe. The meritocracy is not only a myth, but it is a classist/racist one at that. It supports the idea that a living wage is not something all workers should have. People are finally waking up!
